Throughout my life I have struggled with truly trusting Divine Providence and the Lord’s Will for my life. Obviously, this has led to increased anxiety and doubt over choices both big and small. A while back as I sat in adoration begging Christ to help me trust Him more, the inspiration to create a Chaplet of Trust came over me. These prayers (more or less, some wording probably isn’t exactly the same) came to me that night in adoration. I share this chaplet now in the hopes that it might help others in the same way that it has helped me. Ad Majorem Dei Gloriam!
Chaplet of Trust
(To be prayed using any common rosary or decadal chaplet. Instructions in bold, prayers in italics.)
In the Name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.
(Opening prayer) Apostle’s Creed -
I believe in God, the Father almighty,
creator of heaven and earth.
I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord,
who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
born of the Virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died, and was buried;
he descended into hell.
On the third day he rose again from the dead;
he ascended into heaven,
and is seated at the right hand of the Father,
from thence he will come to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy catholic Church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and the life everlasting.
Amen.
(On single bead above crucifix) -
Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
Amen.
(On each of 3 beads above crucifix) – Jesus, I trust in Thee.
(On bead to start each decade) - Most Holy Trinity, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, may Your loving Will be done, in me and through me, to Your greater glory and not my own. Amen.
(On 10 beads of each decade) - Lord Jesus Christ, Benevolent King of my heart, I firmly trust in Thee.
(On center bead, after 5 decades) – Blessed Mother Mary, you continuously gave the Lord your fiat throughout your earthly life, and He rewarded you with Heavenly graces beyond telling. Pray for us to your Son, that we may follow in your example of perfect trust in Him. Dearest Mother, wrap us always in your mantle of protection and prayer.
Hail Mary…
(Closing prayer) - O God, by the Passion, Death and Resurrection of your Son, Our Lord Jesus Christ, hear our humble prayers and petitions. Empty our hearts of all worldly desires and fill them instead with Your most Holy Spirit. May we be as chalices, overflowing with Your abundant love and mercy, to all those around us. Help us to better understand and trust Your holy Will, and may it be done on Earth as it is done in Heaven. We ask this, as we ask all things, through Jesus Christ Our Lord. Amen.
